Mass Blogger Interview Answers For Ms Leo

I decided to answer Ms. Leo interview questions from I Luv Dolls. Give it a try I'm interested in your answers too

When did you start collecting dolls?
Oddly enough I didn't start collecting dolls until my late 20's. My brothers had action figures (Star Wars, GI Joe).

What was your first purchase as a collector?
My 1st purchase was Kelly Barbie's littlest sister in her crib. I guess we can say I loved the littlest one (at the time) first.

How many dolls do you own?

Really not sure at this point but figure I have over 300 Kelly & friends. My Fashion Royalty collection is about 130 - 150 at this point (I haven't inventoried lately). I'm pretty sure Barbie & friends is about 350 or more (remember haven't inventoried in a while). This is just a guesstimate so I will say about 800 including all lines but I may be exaggerating since I've also been selling stuff for a few years now..LOL

What is your favorite doll and why?
I'm not going to start a riot but at the moment I'm loving my Live Wire mini clone. I just got her but I LOVE HER <3. My favorite can change daily or weekly.

What doll or dolls are not your favorites and why?
I have no love for baby dolls. I just don't find them appealing at all. I have a couple of dolls who have lil baby dolls but not a fan at all. I also find porcelain dolls a bit creepy..no offense to those who love them but ugghh. Have you seen the movie Dolls..LOL. That's not the only reason but my imagination doesn't help

What is the biggest challenge about collecting dolls?
It's the money and availability. These days the quality on some lines is so lousy. No QC (quality control). Some dolls are very expensive but I've become very picky in the dolls I get. I think I've filled in the blanks on some dolls I wanted and couldn't get.

How do you display or store your dolls?
Right now there is no display set up. I want to set up a shelf or two for some and just rotate them out.

Have you ever been to a doll show?
I can say I've been to a few. I've found some bargains at some. I've also made and met friends there too.

When you travel, do you look for dolls?
Is this a trick question..LOL. I always check for dolls or doll items no matter where I go

What is your latest purchase?
Other than Live Wire, I also scored a couple of other goodies you'll have to check back to my blog for the reveal :O)

What doll is on your wish list now?
Not sure maybe Count Adrian from the FR line. I think I'm good for the moment

What do you wish you didn’t purchase?
I'm going to say some blonde playline dolls in the 90's. There's not much else I regret.

What is your favorite doll related item?
Not sure. I have quite a few fashions that I love and am glad I own them.

How often do you photo your dolls and what doll is the most photographed
and/or photogenic?
Not often enough. They have been neglected quite a bit. But I tend to grab an Adele or Nadja when I get in the mood.

Do you talk to other collectors in person or just on the web?
Both. I've met some great friends from the web. Some we meet up and hang out a few times a year.

If you had the chance to speak to Mattel or other toy makers, what
would you say?
What is with all the really cheap clothes (talking the Big M).  You can really be #1 if you listen to your collectors.  As for other companies like Integrity I don't have any real problems since I only buy what I love. Not saying they don't have issues but they usually fix them in great time.

What doll do you wish would be reissued?
I would love to see Taylor Jones Tiffany Taylor's black friend reissued. I would love for her to be streamlined a bit so she can share shoes & clothes with FR and Barbie :O)

What two dolls would you combine and how would you want them
combined? (Muff style question)
I've done a lot of Frankenstein move to my dolls. I would love to see the handspeak system applied to Mattel's Fashionista & pivotal bodies.  I'm sure there's a lot more I want but hey this is a start

  2. You have so many dolls 0_0

I'm a new follower, found you through I-Luv-Dolls' questionaire, and I love your answe4rs! I agree with your "What would you say to Mattel"
I was looking back through the clothes and props they used to make and the quality just isn't what it used to be on a lot of pieces.

My first full set FR girl is yet to come, it's the new Erin, which I understand a lot of people don't like... but I think since I wasn't familiar with the old Erin, I just saw the doll for what she was, and not what she used to be!!

Anyhow, yes, new follower, and please feel free to stop by the majokko shop and check out my answers too (although not necessary!!!)

    1. Hi Marta, thank you. Too many dolls don't make for a lot of fun sometimes. That's why I have to let go of quite a few.

  6. I don't like porcelain dolls either. Or any of the antique ones, really. Shrug.

Thanks for submitting these answers. Fun to read about what others do and don't do.

Oh and thanks for admitting to about 800 dolls. I can feel better. Course I probably have fewer because, like you, I have been selling recently.
