Candi Girl You Are My World

Like the title say Candi was my world for a moment (cue New Edition). This entry came about as a request from Dana of Philly Collector fame.  I think I saw these ladies in another collectors pictures on one of my doll boards. I had to ask the question and so it began. Candi was a quick detour in my collecting.  

My sister-in-law Denise had a couple and I fell more in love. She eventually gave me a couple of hers. I started buying them from Paul David's (huge doll seller). I loved the work of Mikelman on these dolls and fashions. I know the dolls were 1st introduced from Helena Hamilton but Integrity & Mikelman were who I know them from.  I don't remember which was my first but here some of my faves of my collection.

    Do you know of any sites where I can figure out what Candi, Mikelman, Etc. I have. Their names. I am buying too much and don't know if they have their original clothes.

      Frannie I'll shoot you an email for the couple of sites that may still work. One I use hasn't updated in years but it may help. I haven't found a site with all the dolls yet

      You're most welcome Dana. I have a thing for Candi's with the Asian face. When I found out there was a platinum haired doll had to have her. Glad to have found her for a bargain years ago. She's in the top 5 of Candi dolls for me :O)

    These are lovely dolls, I can see why you got sidetracked into collecting them - and have so many. I love the hair on Sublime Elegance but they are all gorgeous.

      I have the Swedish Holiday Toast in the burgundy bubble dress. I don't remember when or why I bought her. Finally used her dress at one of the doll parties. I would like to get the AA one and a couple of the others shown in the catalog.

    Cool, I see you have "On the Go" labelled. I like the Asian head mold, but I really like the Hispanic head mold, too.

    I agree 110% with Muff's comments: "Ah, sookie sookie now! They all have such swagger."

    What I find interesting about these dolls is that while they do have that "swagger" quality, they don't exude the same hauteur of the Fashion Royalty dolls. Puzzler, hmmm?

      I think with these ladies even though Integrity & Mikelman had their hands on them the original product still belonged to Helena. The ladies can bring it w/o breaking the wallet

Flea Market Fun

I was talked into going to Englishtown (flea market) and boy am I glad I went. I wasn't enthusiastic at first since we were leaving  after noon which means all the good stuff is usually gone. I didn't take a ton of money but for about $20 I found some goodies I'm proud of.  My 1st find of the day I picked up the Sophie & two NFL Jerseys for $3. I love LIV bodies for body swaps. Those jerseys will come in handy for either the ladies or a couple of guys. Next find I up 3 dolls and 2 books (not pictured) for $6. Not sure which Christie's or Teresa this is. Mass Blogger Interview Answers For Ms Leo

I decided to answer Ms. Leo interview questions from   I Luv Dolls . Give it a try I'm interested in your answers too When did you start collecting dolls? Oddly enough I didn't start collecting dolls until my late 20's. My brothers had action figures (Star Wars, GI Joe). What was your first purchase as a collector ? My 1st purchase was Kelly Barbie's littlest sister in her crib. I guess we can say I loved the littlest one (at the time) first. How many dolls do you own? Really not sure at this point but figure I have over 300 Kelly & friends. My Fashion Royalty collection is about 130 - 150 at this point (I haven't inventoried lately). I'm pretty sure Barbie & friends is about 350 or more (remember haven't inventoried in a while). Creatable World Takeover

Has anyone noticed that Mattel's Creatable World has taken over? Well, I certainly have. So much so that I now own five of their deluxe packages that includes a doll.  They now have single doll packs, deluxe clothing packs, single clothing packs, and wigs too. The deluxe clothing packs have variations from the deluxe packages that includes a doll.  The eight deluxe doll sets Single clothing packs  Deluxe clothes pack  Deluxe clothing pack  Deluxe clothing pack  They have been spotted at Target so far. They may be at Wal-Mart too. I'm not sure.  Have you been seduced by Creatable World?
