Mass Blogger Interview Answers For Ms Leo

I decided to answer Ms. Leo interview questions from I Luv Dolls. Give it a try I'm interested in your answers too

When did you start collecting dolls?
Oddly enough I didn't start collecting dolls until my late 20's. My brothers had action figures (Star Wars, GI Joe).

What was your first purchase as a collector?
My 1st purchase was Kelly Barbie's littlest sister in her crib. I guess we can say I loved the littlest one (at the time) first.

How many dolls do you own?

Really not sure at this point but figure I have over 300 Kelly & friends. My Fashion Royalty collection is about 130 - 150 at this point (I haven't inventoried lately). I'm pretty sure Barbie & friends is about 350 or more (remember haven't inventoried in a while). This is just a guesstimate so I will say about 800 including all lines but I may be exaggerating since I've also been selling stuff for a few years now..LOL

What is your favorite doll and why?
I'm not going to start a riot but at the moment I'm loving my Live Wire mini clone. I just got her but I LOVE HER <3. My favorite can change daily or weekly.

What doll or dolls are not your favorites and why?
I have no love for baby dolls. I just don't find them appealing at all. I have a couple of dolls who have lil baby dolls but not a fan at all. I also find porcelain dolls a bit creepy..no offense to those who love them but ugghh. Have you seen the movie Dolls..LOL. That's not the only reason but my imagination doesn't help

What is the biggest challenge about collecting dolls?
It's the money and availability. These days the quality on some lines is so lousy. No QC (quality control). Some dolls are very expensive but I've become very picky in the dolls I get. I think I've filled in the blanks on some dolls I wanted and couldn't get.

How do you display or store your dolls?
Right now there is no display set up. I want to set up a shelf or two for some and just rotate them out.

Have you ever been to a doll show?
I can say I've been to a few. I've found some bargains at some. I've also made and met friends there too.

When you travel, do you look for dolls?
Is this a trick question..LOL. I always check for dolls or doll items no matter where I go

What is your latest purchase?
Other than Live Wire, I also scored a couple of other goodies you'll have to check back to my blog for the reveal :O)

What doll is on your wish list now?
Not sure maybe Count Adrian from the FR line. I think I'm good for the moment

What do you wish you didn’t purchase?
I'm going to say some blonde playline dolls in the 90's. There's not much else I regret.

What is your favorite doll related item?
Not sure. I have quite a few fashions that I love and am glad I own them.

How often do you photo your dolls and what doll is the most photographed
and/or photogenic?
Not often enough. They have been neglected quite a bit. But I tend to grab an Adele or Nadja when I get in the mood.

Do you talk to other collectors in person or just on the web?
Both. I've met some great friends from the web. Some we meet up and hang out a few times a year.

If you had the chance to speak to Mattel or other toy makers, what
would you say?
What is with all the really cheap clothes (talking the Big M).  You can really be #1 if you listen to your collectors.  As for other companies like Integrity I don't have any real problems since I only buy what I love. Not saying they don't have issues but they usually fix them in great time.

What doll do you wish would be reissued?
I would love to see Taylor Jones Tiffany Taylor's black friend reissued. I would love for her to be streamlined a bit so she can share shoes & clothes with FR and Barbie :O)

What two dolls would you combine and how would you want them
combined? (Muff style question)
I've done a lot of Frankenstein move to my dolls. I would love to see the handspeak system applied to Mattel's Fashionista & pivotal bodies.  I'm sure there's a lot more I want but hey this is a start

Movie Night

Last night I finally saw The Avengers. Loved it and I will see it again. I may even go in for the 3D version the 2nd time. I met up with my girlfriends Angie & Linda after work along with some other ladies Angie works with. We ate at BBQ's and did the 8:45 show. We all wore our favorite Avenger t-shirts. My favorite was The Hulk but alas his shirts were sold out. I got Iron Man instead. There is a group pic of us somewhere but here are a couple of not so great shots of me in the Dark Shadows display.

Here's a shot of my favorite guy. The giggle in the 2nd shot was because my Hulk topper kept falling..I think. Love Hulk..Hulk smash..LOL

There And Back Again..Part II

Sorry for the long delay in posting the rest of the story. Now where did I leave this ride..hmm. KellyKon was an intimate affair (27 people / 3 tables)

Every morning I was up by 3:30 - 4:30 because I was still on Eastern Standard Time. We spent the previous nights setting up the room for the day's festivities :O) I have shots of the table setup in the pics. That is not everything we had.  I figure I will post a link to the pictures that encompass all that I did. We start with out tour of Los Angeles and ends with the final day. There are pics from auction items and raffle goodies.

I know it's a let down but I will answer any questions you may have. Just post and I will reply..I promise

There And Back Again..Part I

Interesting title, no? I am back from KellyKon 2012 no worse for wear (or however the saying goes..LOL). This years convention Kellyfornia Dreaming was held in El Segundo, a Los Angeles suburb. This was my 1st visit to the West Coast. It was a fun but I'm so glad to be home :O)

All in all I give the trip an 8. Loved seeing my friends. Loved the shopping (and you know I shopped..LOL). The hotel is one I would not recommend. I won't even give their name here. The majority of the staff was very flip and not very helpful with anything. My roommate and I switched rooms by the 2nd day there. The 1st room was horrible and there was no air conditioning at all. The 2nd room was much better :O)

We took a sight seeing tour on Thursday. We went to Hollywood, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, & Beverly Hills. The tour was fun but our guide sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger..LOL. I swear to you his accent was so thick I thought he mentioned a robot in the Ten Commandments (movie). The tour took about 4 hours to see it all. I grabbed some pics which I will try to upload tomorrow.

A group of us did manage to go to the Mattel Store which was less than 2 miles from our hotel on Friday. The store itself was nothing to write home about. The selection of Barbie's was mediocre at best. Imagine no Monster High dolls at all. We were appeased when we were given a 50% off one item coupon. I used mine to purchase another Elvis Barbie. Her body is too delectable to resist..LOL

The actual convention was Saturday & Sunday. I will post the fun stuff with the pictures either tomorrow or Wednesday. This jet lag is killing me. I'm off to bed again. I have to work in the morning :O\
